About Us

Steve Reynolds, Owner of Reynolds HardwoodOwner Steve Reynolds was born in Alaska and has lived in the Palmer area much of his life. Steve is a meticulous and caring businessman. He tries to keep every customer satisfied with the product, enjoys the chance to visit with new or regular customers, and keeps his inventory in picture-perfect stacks that show off the quality of the lumber he stocks.

Most of the large volume and variety of kiln-dried lumber in stock comes from the same mill in Indiana. The quality is always good, so this monster mill has continued to be the major supplier. Now and then specialty woods, and some exotics, are brought in by special order.

The inventory has been discovered by a large number of craftsmen who produce some grand works of art as well as the local cabinet makers and finish carpenters. Photos are often brought in by customers to show off their projects. One highly skilled customer even makes world-famous concert-grade ocarinas (often called sweet-potatoes or pocket flutes) for symphony orchestra soloists! The skill levels of woodworkers in Southcentral Alaska probably rivals the best to be found anywhere.

All customers are urged to respect the limit placed on "too much picking" so that every customer will find quality lumber easily available at every visit. Real practicing craftsmen realize that no "perfect tree" has ever been grown, nor few perfect boards ever milled. That type of product would have to come from a taper-free totally straight branchless tree. Nature just doesn't do that for anyone!
